Snoop Dogg Says It's Time For Jeanie Buss And The Lakers To "Move Some Furniture" Amid 22-23 Start

In an appearance on 'All the Smoke' podcast, the legendary Snoop Dogg sent a message directly to the Lakers and their longtime owner, Jeanie Buss. With the team in 9th place in the standings, Snoop said it's time to bring in some younger guys to keep up with the rising competition in the West.

"We gonna have to move some furniture," said Snoop. "We gonna have to move some furniture real fast. Some big pieces of furniture if you know what I mean. We need to move some furniture around and put some dogs on the court because any time a young team comes to town, we freeze up. We can handle the old dogs but when them young goons come to town... c'mon Jeanie, what are we built on? Get us some young guns out there."

The Lakers have been plagued by issues this season ranging from injuries to bad luck to questionable rotations from the head coach. But at .500 on the season heading into February, it's clear that Snoop Dog is right when he says the Lakers need to make some moves. Time is running out in the LeBron James era and the team they have now is just not going to be enough to keep up with the Western elites.

Tough Times In Los Angeles

After making an expected run to the Conference Finals last spring, the Lakers came into this season with high hopes of securing their 18th championship. But after a hot start, that included winning the in-season tournament, the Lakers have fallen on hard times and sit all the way down at 9th in the West. For whatever reason, the supporting cast that powered the Lakers' run last season is just not working this year and now it could force Rob Pelinka's hand to make a move before February's deadline.

Like Snoop, many fans and experts are pushing for the Lakers to take advantage of the trade market and do something to help LeBron James maximize what's left of his basketball career. While it may look too late to save this season, remember what the Lakers did just last year when they had an even worse start.

Lakers Are Making Moves

At this point, there is little doubt that the Lakers will be involved in some kind of deal before February's deadline. Outside of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Austin Reaves, nobody is off limits for the Lakers and everyone is fair game to be included in a deal. As a bottom-10 offensive team, the Lakers need some shooters and shot-creators on the floor to ease the burden from LeBron James and help to generate more points on that end of the floor.

So far, the names that have emerged the most are elite, high-scoring guards like Dejounte Murray, Zach LaVine, and Trae Young. Former Nuggets swingman Bruce Brown is also on their radar along with Nets veteran Spencer Dinwiddie. Clearly, the Lakers are determined to strike some kind of deal to save their season but it remains to be seen if any trade will be enough to get them over the top against teams like the Nuggets, Thunder, or Minnesota Timberwolves.
