Damian Lillard Blames Himself For Blazers Struggles: “I’m Not Playing Well Enough.”

After a hot start to the 2020-21 season, the Portland Trail Blazers have hit a rut that has them 7th in the West. Following their loss on Sunday, their 5th straight, Damian Lillard put the blame on himself, calling on a better performance.

The most bizarre thing about Portland’s current slide is the fact that they’re actually fully healthy (with the exception of Zach Collins). With Dame, CJ McCollum, Jusuf Nurkic, Norman Powell, Carmelo Anthony, and Robert Covington, they’ve got a solid core group that just can’t seem to make things work.

On offense, there doesn’t seem to be a set identity, and it usually comes down to one of the core members going iso for most of the possession.

On defense is where the squad really struggles, as they rank near the bottom of the league in that category.

Lillard, who is averaging 28.5 points, 7.6 assists, and 4,2 rebounds per game on 43.7% shooting, is seemingly doing what he can to keep his team afloat. So far, however, it just hasn’t been working.

And if the Blazers don’t turn things around soon, it might not be long before they see themselves out of the playoff picture entirely.
