The only thing that has always held Anthony Davis back from being the best player in the world is his health. Ever since he made it to the league, he's been quite prone to missing time with multiple injuries.

It's not like there's a part of his body that's been nagging him. It seems like he's prone to injury every single part. Whether it's his wrist, groin, ankle; the slightest movement or hit can send him to the shelf.

That's why it was such a terrible idea from the Lakers' medical staff to allow him to play through his groin injury last night. He was clearly hurt and limited and had to leave the game just 5 minutes in.

Charles Barkley - who had called him Anthony 'Street Clothes' Davis, called out the Lakers for this terrible decision:

“Well first of all, the doctors who let him go out like that, they need to have a serious talk with him. He looked bad from the beginning. He never even got past the top of the key except that one time. I can’t believe they let this kid warm up and go out there like that. This is ridiculous, man. Seriously," Barkley said during the game.

Barkley later elaborated and said that he didn't intend to say that he's not a good player, on the contrary, he thinks he's a game-changer.

Then again, Barkley raised his concerns about the way he's handling his training, as he shouldn't be hurt as often as he is:

“He is a terrific kid, he is a hell of a player but there is no way he should have been out there. But I will tell you this, they gotta sit him down in the summer and say yo man, is something going on with your training. You should never be hurt early in your career… From 22 to 32 you are superman… For him to always be hurt, he is doing something wrong,” Barkley said.

Gladly, Davis will now have a long offseason to fully recover his body after an injury-riddled campaign. Hopefully, he'll change whatever he needs to change to finally stay healthy and live up to this limitless potential.
