Suns Owner Robert Sarver Says He Doesn't Know If Chris Paul Will Return Next Season: "We'll See Next Week..."

In just his first season with the Suns, Chris Paul found more successes than at any point in his career before.

The 36-year-old averaged 16.4 points, 8.9 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game on 49.9% shooting as he led Phoenix to the NBA Finals for the first time in decades.

This summer, he is set to become a free agent, and most of the community believes he'll be headed back for another run with the Suns.

Interestingly, however, team owner Robert Sarver himself admitted that he wasn't sure what was going to happen, leaving the door open for the possibility that the veteran star might not return after all.

“Eh, I don’t know, I’m sure there probably is,” Sarver said when asked if there was anything preventing CP3 from re-signing. “But I think our first priority would be to try and get him back, but that’ll depend on his agent and (Suns GM) James (Jones) and him and me and all that kind of stuff so I don’t know. We’ll see next week I guess, right?”

During the 2019-20 campaign Phoenix failed to make the playoffs, marking yet another consecutive year they fell short of their goal.

But, after adding CP3 that summer, the team blossomed to become a legitimate threat. Chris Paul used his leadership and playmaking ability to make guys like Devin Booker, Cameron Payne, and Deandre Ayton better, essentially bringing the franchise more success than they've seen in a long time.

But even after all that, questions remain about Chris Paul's worth. At 36-years-old, is he really worth the triple-digit salary he will no doubt be looking for this summer?

Some would say no, and it appears the Suns front office isn't even sure.

Needless to say, they've got a big, big decision to make over the next few days.
