Gilbert Arenas Blames Steve Nash's Inexperience For The Nets' Failures: "I Don't Think That He Should Have Been Put With Those Super Three Superstars."

Despite boasting incredible talent on their roster, the Brooklyn Nets have been unable to find success in the NBA in the past couple of seasons. The team showed flashes of what they could've done with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden, but things never really gelled between these three superstars, with Harden leaving the team in the middle of the 2021/22 season. 

This season was a nightmare for the organization; they also had to deal with Kyrie Irving's off-court issues during the season, which didn't change after everything was done. Kevin Durant also revealed his desire to see both head coach Steve Nash and general manager Sean Marks gone since he didn't like the direction the team was taking. 

What started as an exciting project has turned out to be a nightmare for the Nets, and everybody is trying to blame everybody. Gilbert Arenas is no different, as he recently put the blame on the head coach, saying that being an inexperienced coach affected Nash, especially having three superstars on the same team. 

"So now when you're a rookie coach and you got these two players coming in your practices and your games and they're really dissecting everything you're doing.

"So, when you're talking about, 'Oh, we're going to practice for an hour-and-a-half,' and both of them practiced for 30 minutes and they did all this stuff individually and that's what was successful, you're gonna sit there and bump every time you do something wrong.

"You're not gonna get a fair assessment of what you're capable of. So, I thought he should have gotten like a developmental type of team. You know? Grizzlies, Sacramento, one of those type of teams. I don't think that he should have been put with those super three superstars."

In two years with the Nets, Nash has reached the second round of the playoff and the first round, respectively. First, they couldn't get past the eventual champion, Milwaukee Bucks, losing the series in a dramatic Game 7. Things weren't as close this year, as the Boston Celtics easily handled them, sweeping them in the first round. 

In total, Durant, Irving, and Harden played 16 out of 113 possible games for the Nets, going 13-3 over that short span. This number reveals how great they would have been if given more time, but things worked differently for them. 

A lot has been said about the future of the Nets, but right now, things are calm at Barclays Center. Time will tell if there's a big change happening, but as things stand right now, they're ready to start fresh and see how far they can go with the new trio of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons.
