The New York Knicks are still trying to get a deal done for Utah Jazz's shooting guard Donovan Mitchell, but nothing has happened regarding this potential move. After re-signing RJ Barrett to a $120 million deal, the Knickerbockers appeared to be done with Mitchell, but discussions are still taking place behind the scene.

Meanwhile, one of their current players has decided that his time at Madison Square Garden must come to an end and reportedly wants to leave the franchise. After being traded from the Atlanta Hawks last campaign, Cam Reddish failed to make a big impact on the team.

Tom Thibodeau was reportedly against the move, and the player felt the same, but the Knicks and Hawks completed it, having little to zero benefits from it. Now, the player wants to leave the Big Apple and find a new challenge in the league.

Cam Reddish Wants To Leave The New York Knicks

According to Marc Berman of The New York Post, the young wing wants to find a new home in the league. He's been linked with the Los Angeles Lakers in recent days, especially with the Purple and Gold trying to improve their roster ahead of next season.

As the Knicks enter their third month negotiating with the Jazz on a Donovan Mitchell package, they might want to consider making sure Cam Reddish is part of a September deal.

The Post has learned Reddish wants a change of scenery from New York after he was traded there in January and didn’t initially crack the rotation to build confidence. An NBA source said Reddish is looking for a larger role.

The Lakers have interest in the 6-foot-8 Reddish and could be part of a three-team deal with Mitchell. If they aren’t included, the Knicks could do a separate deal with Los Angeles, perhaps to recoup a first-round pick they lost in a Utah scenario.

There is no indication Jazz president Danny Ainge prefers Reddish in the package for himself.

As of right now, there is no other team interested in Reddish's services besides the Lakers, but now that he's looking for a new team, perhaps he'll get more offers. The Knicks didn't use him that much, as Thibodeau wasn't a fan of this move, but he can thrive on another team if given the chance.

The Knicks appeared to have a good offseason, landing Jalen Brunson and re-signing RJ Barrett, but now they're struggling to land Donovan Mitchell. As things stand now, they're still favorites to get Donovan, but it all can go wrong if they don't move quickly or make a bad decision.
