The New Orleans Pelicans are clearly a team that is in need of some immediate reinforcements and depth. They are currently on an 8-game losing streak, and even with Brandon Ingram having returned, they'll need to improve their depth to be a respectable team until Zion Williamson is back.

Perhaps the Pelicans can make a trade to potentially bolster their roster and improve immediately. One of the team's issues has been their lack of scoring with the bench unit. It is clear that this is something they want to rectify, as a recent report from Michael Scotto of HoopsHype revealed that the Pelicans are a team that is interested in acquiring Malik Beasley.

The Pelicans have also expressed interest in trading for Beasley, HoopsHype has learned.

Malik Beasley is currently putting up 13.6 PPG, 3.6 RPG, and 1.7 APG for the Utah Jazz while shooting 36.2% from the 3PT range. He would definitely be able to provide shot creation for the Pelicans off the bench, as well as add overall 3PT shooting to a team that is one of the worst from range. Beasley is a perfect trade candidate for the Pelicans, and it'll be interesting to see if they're able to acquire him in the future.

The New Orleans Pelicans Also Have Other Trade Targets

It is clear that the New Orleans Pelicans have been active ahead of the trade deadline this year, and they are exploring all possibilities to improve their roster. In fact, it was previously reported that they could be in the mix for Atlanta Hawks big man John Collins.

New Orleans has been repeatedly mentioned as a suitor for Hawks forward John Collins, and the Pelicans have certainly registered their interest with Atlanta, sources said. The teams would seem to be natural trade partners...

There is no doubt that John Collins would increase the talent level of the New Orleans Pelicans even further and give them an element of vertical spacing and rim protection. He would likely start at the center position for the franchise, though it should be noted that Collins would likely have trouble guarding true bigs such as Nikola Jokic. There is also a non-zero chance that the Hawks will simply keep Collins through the deadline

It remains to be seen what the New Orleans Pelicans do heading into the trade deadline. They have the draft picks and the salary pieces needed to be big players at the deadline this year, and we'll see if David Griffin ends up making some win-now moves.
