Magic Johnson Doesn't Believe Anyone Will Be Able To Pass LeBron James As The NBA's Leading Scorer

After LeBron James crossed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the all-time scoring list on Tuesday, Magic Johnson says he won't be passed anytime soon.

Magic Johnson was the man powering the Showtime Lakers, the team with which Kareem Abdul-Jabbar scored a lot of his points and won his championships. He was also instrumental in bringing LeBron James to the organization as an executive in 2018. And now Magic has watched James break his legendary teammate's all-time scoring record, something most of us knew was only a matter of time.

LeBron James is 38 years old, at an age when most players are out of the league. He is putting up over 30 points per game though, which is almost unfathomable. The way he has taken care of his body has always been legendary and now it's paying great dividends toward what should be the end of his career. As such, the expectation is that he could take the record to even greater heights that almost no one else will be able to match. That's how Magic Johnson sees it, at least. 

"He’s fourth all-time on the NBA assists list and now number one in scoring. By the time he’s done playing, I don’t think anyone will ever surpass LeBron as the NBA all-time leading scorer!"

The fact that he is also in the Top 10 in other statistical categories all-time is also not something that gets discussed enough. LeBron James is a marvel, to live up to the expectations he came into the league with and surpass them is nothing short of spectacular. And if King James can continue playing at this level, the new record could easily end up at 4,000 to 5,000 points more than where it currently stands.

What Comes Next For LeBron James?

There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that the statistical achievements will continue to pour in for LeBron James. But the next goal will be a trickier proposition. A lot of the conversation has been about breaking the record since it became evident it would happen, but as shown by the fact that the Lakers lost the game, team success will be harder to come by. 

LeBron James was not happy with the team missing out on landing Kyrie Irving, and it doesn't look at this time like the Lakers will be able to pull off a move that will make them serious contenders for the championship. That can be the only goal left for LeBron James now, which makes it interesting to think about where he will be playing in the coming few years.
