You get the sense there was jubilation in Dallas when the news broke that Kyrie Irving had been traded to the Mavericks. Fans had been desperate for the front office to get Luka Doncic some help, and they finally did it, although the trade certainly comes with a lot of risks considering Kyrie's past behavior.

One man who certainly wouldn't have been happy at all to see Kyrie end up in Dallas is LeBron James, who wanted a reunion with his former teammate. It has been a difficult season for the Los Angeles Lakers, and it seemed like Irving could have been the solution to a lot of their problems.

A few hours after the trade, LeBron put out a cryptic tweet, which pretty much seemed to indicate that he was feeling quite down about how things had transpired. The failure to land Kyrie would have further strained relations between LeBron and the Lakers front office, which led to a Nets fan hilariously stating that he would end up in Brooklyn.

They definitely have some assets for a potential move, but LeBron is ineligible to be traded this season, so he isn't going anywhere just yet. The Nets fans, though, can dream of a scenario in the offseason where James demands a trade, and they are able to pair him with Kevin Durant.

The Lakers Had Some Concerns Regarding Kyrie Irving

Not long after the news regarding the trade request came out, Brian Windhorst stated that the Lakers were hesitant about trading for Kyrie because they didn't want to give him a $200 million extension. Still, reports indicate they did end up offering both their first-round draft picks and Russell Westbrook to the Nets, so they had decided to take that risk.

The Nets, however, demanded the Lakers also give up their young players and include some pick swaps, which was too steep a price to pay. It was way too much, especially considering they also had concerns regarding his availability, off-court behavior, and professionalism. LeBron, though would have felt he could have kept Kyrie in check, but the Lakers weren't going to mortgage their entire future on that.
