Paul George is one of the reasons why the Los Angeles Clippers are still considered serious championship contenders, even after failing to make it to the NBA Finals since he and Kawhi Leonard landed in Los Angeles.

These two are expected to make a big noise with the Clips, but so far, things haven't worked in their favor. However, with Kawhi healthy and PG trying to do his thing plus a series of moves the front office made ahead of the 2023 trade deadline, the Clippers look ready to challenge for the championship.

George knows that the competition will be stiff this season, especially after the Phoenix Suns traded for Kevin Durant and the Dallas Mavericks added Kyrie Irving, improving their chances to come out of the Western Conference.

Paul George Throws Shade At Lakers While Explaining His Goals With Clippers

During all these years, the Clippers couldn't win the title or make it to the Finals while seeing their crosstown rivals Los Angeles Lakers win it all in 2020. That has become a problem for the Clips, and George knows that winning with them would be great.

During a recent interview with GQ, George talked about the differences between the Clippers and the Lakers, revealing that his goal is winning a 'chip with his current team, which would mean a lot more than winning on the Lakers.

As a SoCal kid who grew up far from the glitz and glamor of Hollywood, George is clear about his goal. “A championship with the Clippers 100% will outweigh a championship being with the Lakers,” he says. He tells me bringing the first chip to “this part of LA” would be legacy-defining.

The Clippers rank 5th in the Western Conference champions, ready to make a big splash this campaign. They need to find consistency this season, and if George and Leonard remain healthy, they will have a good chance against the rest of the competition. While the Lakers struggle a lot, the Clippers are ready to go all the way and win a title, but that will be hard to accomplish.
