The Dallas Mavericks lost their early Sunday game against the Charlotte Hornets, making it back-to-back losses. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving both played once again, but the Mavericks couldn't get an incredibly important win. And unsurprisingly, with their playoff hopes in shambles, fans of other teams were quick to roast them on Twitter.

Some fans weren't surprised at the outcome, questioning the roster outside the superstar duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving: "Besides Luka and Kyrie, they literally have nothing. This isn’t a surprise. Need more pieces."

But some think the Mavericks' new duo is the problem. They are now 3-8 when they play together, which makes one think this fan has a point: "Terrible combination that most people saw being a bad one. Too similar of playstyles with almost no defense."

And one fan put it simply, saying, "If you can’t beat the lottery Hornets, you shouldn’t be in the playoffs."

And while everyone was hyped at the prospect of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving playing together, one fan thinks they should have made another move: "Should’ve gotten a big instead of Kyrie, they haven’t had one since they last won a championship."

And while most Mavericks fans likely wanted the team to be in the playoffs again after they got to the Western Conference Finals, some seem to think they should be looking in the opposite direction: "Might as well tank for Wemby now."

The Dallas Mavericks could end up being effectively two games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder by the time this weekend ends, with just 7 games left. The final play-in spot seems tough at this point, let alone the 6th seed. The Mavericks have some serious soul-searching to do.

Can The Dallas Mavericks Still Make The Playoffs?

The Mavericks are now 3 games behind the 6th seed, but they could still catch any of the teams in the play-in tournament. The outlook doesn't look good for them. Luka Doncic had 40 points against the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, but it wasn't enough for a victory. He also picked up his 16th technical foul, meaning he will miss the next game and he is not in the best space, to begin with

The team has 7 games left and that includes matchups against the 76ers and the Kings. They will need to win all 7 to have a good chance at the playoffs, but that seems extremely unlikely to happen. These last two losses may have effectively ended the season for the Dallas Mavericks.
