NBA Rumors: 5 Best Destinations For Kyle Lowry This Free Agency

Kyle Lowry is a multiple-time All-Star who is beloved by the Toronto Raptors franchise. However, it is clear that he is in the latter stages of his career, which means that he probably wants to win another championship. It is unlikely that he will be able to do so with the Toronto Raptors, as they seem like they could be headed for a rebuild.

Despite his legendary status in Toronto it definitely feels like Kyle Lowry could move on to a team where he could team up with other stars, and potentially win a ring. Here are the best destinations for Kyle Lowry.

5. New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans would be a great destination for Kyle Lowry. He is a multi-dimensional point guard, who can provide some scoring, but also set up his teammates. Trying to acquire Lowry would definitely be qualified as a win-now move for the Pelicans, but his playstyle would fit perfectly in a third option role next to Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram.

On the New Orleans Pelicans, Kyle Lowry could become the veteran in the locker room who has championship experience. Being next to a leader like Lowry could help the development of the young players present on the roster. While the Pelicans already have a decent amount of guards, perhaps some of them could be traded to make room for the 6-time All-Star.

4. Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks already have a great young duo in Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncic, but they seem to be missing a piece. Kyle Lowry could be the third star and one who could take some of the playmaking duties out of Luka Doncic's hands. Lowry's potent off-ball ability will also work well with Doncic's passing, and he would give them a trusted option on offense when the other two stars are struggling.

The Dallas Mavericks have one of the most promising superstars in the game in Luka Doncic, and surrounding him with quality complementary players will be key. Kyle Lowry's low usage game is a good fit with Doncic's playstyle. He will be one of the most coveted free agents this offseason, and perhaps the Mavericks can become Lowry's destination.

3. Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers will have 9 players who will be free agents this summer, and it is almost certain that some of them will leave. The Los Angeles Lakers were rumored to be interested in Lowry, and perhaps this offseason he will be one of their targets. While he'd probably have to take a pay cut so the Los Angeles Lakers can build the rest of their roster, playing with LeBron James and Anthony Davis would be good for his title chances.

In terms of basketball, Kyle Lowry will be a natural fit next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He doesn't need a lot of touches to be impactful, and Lowry's perimeter defense and outside shooting would be perfect next to a playmaker like LeBron James. He would also space the floor for Anthony Davis, which would allow him more room on the interior. Overall, it seems as though the Lowry-Lakers fit is definitely there.

2. Miami Heat

The Miami Heat have been rumored as one of the top landing spots for Kyle Lowry, and they are rumored to be confident in their ability to get Kyle Lowry in free agency. Kyle Lowry is known to have a good relationship with Jimmy Butler as well. The Miami Heat would give Lowry a real chance to get to the NBA Finals, as they did it during the 2019-20 season.

Kyle Lowry would be a great addition to the Miami Heat roster, and he would provide the Miami Heat with star power and championship experience. Kyle Lowry's floor spacing would be particularly important for the Miami Heat, as Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler aren't the best from beyond the arc, and need some spacing to succeed. At some point, every contending team has to make a win-now move. Jimmy Butler won't be in his prime forever, and perhaps it would be good to try and win a championship in the near future.

1. Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers are quite possibly the best destination for Kyle Lowry. It has been rumored that the 76ers will try to get Lowry via sign and trade, which could potentially make them a superteam. Adding Kyle Lowry to the three stars already on the roster could push the 76ers to the next level. On the 76ers, Kyle Lowry could be a supplementary offensive player, while still being able to create for himself if needed.

The 76ers could use another perimeter scorer next to Tobias Harris, and Kyle Lowry definitely fits the bill. While Lowry's scoring has declined from last season, he is still a capable shot-creator who can get hot given the opportunity. Kyle Lowry was also born in Philadelphia, and went to college in Villanova, meaning that the personal connection is there as well. Lowry and the 76ers seem like a good match, which could potentially happen this offseason.
