Ja Morant Will Have A "Significant Suspension" For Next Season, Says Brian Windhorst
NBA insider Brian Windhorst had some grim news about Ja Morant’s future with regard to the upcoming season.
"The indication here is this is going to be a significant suspension," Windhorst said on ESPN’s Get Up.. "The tone and the fact that the Players Association is involved does not indicate that it'll be similar to something we've seen before. I also think Adam Silver is expecting there to be a lot of reactions to what he does."
Ja found himself in trouble after flashing a gun for the second time on Instagram Live, prompting a full-fledged investigation, of which NBA commissioner Adam Silver provided a crucial update prior to Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
"We've uncovered a fair amount of additional information," he said. "We probably could have brought it to a head now, but we've made the decision that it would be unfair to these players and these teams to announce that decision in the middle of this series."
It looks like a massive full-season suspension with docked pay is in the offing. In perspective, it could also be that the league’s decision would be with the idea that other players wouldn’t do any such activities that tarnish his/her, the franchise, and the league’s reputation.
Does Ja Morant Deserve A Stern Punishment?
Editorializing a bit, Ja does deserve punishment, especially after repeating an act that put him in soup in the first place. And while the degree of it is left to the NBA, a lengthy suspension is the best that they could slap him with, although there have been divided opinions regarding the same.
For now, it’s all about Ja and his accountability. The question is whether he will indeed learn from his mistakes. He is a stellar player and surely the face of the NBA in the future, and his actions have pretty much jeopardized the flow of his career.
