Huawei ban could cost Germany 400 million euros
Germany will have to spend up to 400 million euros ($437 million) to rip off Huawei from its network infrastructure, says Der Spiegel magazine.
The report further mentions that Deutsche Bahn will have to postpone its future projects for over five years if the Huawei ban comes into effect.
Germany has not taken a stand on whether Huawei should be banned from the network infrastructure. However, EU industry chief Thierry Breton is pushing to ban Huawei in the region without giving any evidence of any threat from the Chinese tech maker.
Meanwhile, service providers in Germany already have partnered with Huawei to bring 5G and other network services to all consumers.
As the top European market, the EU chief is pursuing Germany to mark a big win but the country will have to pay 400 million euros or even more to remove Huawei and it may be a big issue.
For now, Germany has not announced any development in this matter but we’ll keep you posted.
